Scientist He Jiankui will likely go down in history as the first human to genetically engineer another living person. He has now been fired. Thanks to his unethical behavior, #geneticengineering humans has begun. Now, what do we do with it? How should we feel about it? Why is it such a big deal? I sat down with Hank Green to talk #designerbabies and answer all these questions.

P.S - You know, all this is pretty amazing considering Rosalind Franklin only discovered #DNA's double-helix shape in the 1950s! YO GO ROSALIND!

P.P.S - There are other issues with genetic engineering that we didn't get to talk about in this video, like mosaicism. Mosaicism is when some of the cells in an organism have different genetics than other cells even though they came from the same zygote. In nature, it's caused by cell replication errors, which a scientist armed with #CRISPR can absolutely trigger.
