The Gloster Gamecock, a British biplane fighter developed in the mid-1920s, was an evolution of the earlier Gloster Grebe, aimed at overcoming some of the reliability and structural issues of its predecessor. Designed by Henry Folland, it featured improvements such as the more robust Bristol Jupiter engine, which replaced the unreliable Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar. Its structure incorporated metal bracing instead of the wooden elements that caused problems in the Grebe, and an aluminum fireproof bulkhead was added for increased safety. Despite these advancements, the Gamecock suffered from aeroelastic flutter, a challenge that led to further design adjustments. The Gamecock served as the Royal Air Force's main fighter for several years, marking a key step in British military aviation between World War I and World War II.
