An overview of current research being done by Dr. David Goldsman and Dr. Christos Alexopoulos with Georgia Tech. During the session, the professors discuss the use of simulation as a tool for analyzing and improving supply chain performance. In particular, they illustrate how simulation can be used to (i) evaluate the effectiveness and robustness of a particular supply chain implementation, and (ii) compare the performance of competing supply chain strategies.
Dr. Goldman's research interests lie in computer simulation with emphasis on statistical output analysis, applied probability, ranking and selection, financial engineering, and reliability and life testing. Application areas include health systems, airline safety, and supply chains.
Dr. Alexopoulos' research interests center on applied probability, statistics, and optimizations of stochastics systems. His recent work centers on simulation output analysis and optimal design of telecommunications and transportation networks.
