CCSO Case # 25-022972
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office continues to lead search and rescue efforts for missing hunter Devon Dobek in the Mount Hood National Forest, southeast of Estacada. Mr. Dobek has been missing since Friday, October 31, 2025, after failing to return home from a hunting trip.
On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, approximately 70 searchers were deployed in the area from multiple Search and Rescue partners, including the Sheriff’s Office. Support came from Mountain Wave Emergency Communications, Portland Mountain Rescue, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, Hood River Crag Rats, the 304th Rescue Squadron (PJs), Mary’s Peak Search and Rescue (Benton County), and the Deschutes, Marion, Multnomah, and Polk County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as the U.S. Forest Service.
The Sheriff’s Office drone team once again flew over difficult-to-reach terrain using thermal imaging cameras. Flight times were cut short due to fog interfering with visibility. Advanced analysis of Mr. Dobek’s cell phone data helped guide crews to new, more specific search areas.
Ground crews reported unfavorable weather conditions creating safety concerns in some search areas due to high winds and falling trees and limbs.
We want to offer our sincere thanks to the many volunteers and partner agencies who have been part of this search effort and continue to donate their time and energy to keep this mission going.
Additional updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
