DOKOLO WOMAN MP BY-ELECTION
As nomination date for the Dokolo District Woman MP seat draws closer, political party leaders at the national level have begun visiting the district to set up mobilization strategies that will usher their party victory.
The National Unity Platform, NUP has fronted 300 mobilizers ahead of the Dokolo District Woman MP By-Election.
On Saturday, a delegation led by the secretary general David Rubongoya met party leaders from the 14 sub-counties in the district to mobilize for their candidate
One person has expressed interest to contest under the party’s ticket but Rubongoya said the party will go through a primary election.
Meanwhile, NRM has fronted Janet Adongo Elau, as flag bearer out of the Seven who had shown interest for the seat.
During their mobilization meeting in Dokolo, two candidates; Judith Ayugi and Lillian Auma Okullo stepped down while five including, Irene Amongi, Dr. Grace Anna Lalam, Rebecca Arao, and Beatrice Abang the district NRM chairperson opted to run independently.
Rosemary Sseninde, the party mobilization secretary cautioned independent aspirants against betraying the party.
Dokolo woman MP seat fell vacant last month following the death of Cecilia Barbra Atim Ogwal
. Over thirteen women have expressed interest in the seat including Cecilia’s daughter Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal. The by-election is slated for 21 st March this year.
