Jeep Merc Chrysler 3.0 CRD Warning Light? Quick Fix Resistor OM642 Swirl Bypass ETC Lightening bolt

The warning light of a lightening bolt in two lines came up flashing on this Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD with the OM642 Merc engine. It is common and caused by oil getting into the swirl motor circuit. Disconnect the swirl motor and trick the ECU into thinking it is still there and working by adding one 4700 ohm resistor (4.7k or 4k7 is the terminology used).
This saves dealer costs of $$ ££ thousands stripping the engine to replace the swirl motor!!
The difference to the feel of the engine is unnoticeable going on user feedback.

It applies to Mercedes Benz, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep with the 3.0 CRD diesel engine (e.g. E-class w211 e280CDi, e320CDi, C-class C320, ML, GL, CLK, GLC, Jeep Grande Cherokee 3.0 CRD, Jeep Commander, Dodge / Freightliner, Mercedes Sprinter, Chrysler 300C which have engine OM642, 3.0L v6 diesel, year 2005 to present )
