Shannon, 32, and Matt Struiksma, 33, live a happy life with their children, Hudson, four, and Harper, two, in their home in Palm Desert, California.

And clearly the key to a happy marriage for this loved-up pair is not flowers or jewellery, but rather Matt keeping his wife on her toes, sometimes literally, by sneaking up and scaring Shannon out of her skin.

Over the last six years Matt has recorded his regular routine of quietly sneaking up on Shannon, and sometimes without even saying a word, causes her to scream, jolt and contort her face into a series of terrified expressions.

Shannon said: "When we moved in together after the wedding, Matt started realising how jumpy I was when he entered rooms without talking and he would die laughing.
