We had 5 straight days of little waves here on the North Shore. I thought it was a classic Wavy Gravy swell generated by a strong high pressure off the coast of North America.
But I was corrected by the wave forecast Guru Pat Caldwell. A Wavy Gravy is when the high pressure is off Northern California straight out from Golden Gate Park where Wavy Gravy would MC hippie rock concerts back in the 60's and 70's.
No, this high pressure was further north off of Oregon, making this an "Ola Granola" swell. So what's with Ola Granola? Well, Granola was a staple of the hippie health food movement (long before MAHA). Many hippies got priced out of the Bay Area during the 80's and 90's and moved north to Oregon. Thus the Ola Granola.
