Chancellor Rishi Sunak extends furlough scheme to October | Coronavirus

Rishi Sunak has confirmed that the furlough scheme will be extended until the end of October, a month longer than expected.

It will include "greater flexibility" in the later months the Chancellor has told MPs, allowing employees to bring furloughed employees back part-time.

But he says that "workers will continue to receive the same level of support", at 80 per cent of their current salary up to a £2,500 monthly cap. However he said this will be "shared" by businesses as staff get back to work.
