KCRA-TV’s John Gibson reports on the struggles musicians faced on their way to the top in 1979. The featured band is Quiet Riot, then an unsigned Los Angeles group with original guitarist Randy Rhoads.
Rhoads would later join Ozzy Osbourne’s Blizzard of Ozz tour to great acclaim, but tragically died in a small plane crash on March 19, 1982, at just 25 years old. In 1983, Quiet Riot released the landmark album Metal Health, which produced three Top 10 singles and propelled the band to international fame. Over the years, Quiet Riot has continued on with various lineups.
