In this video I replace the heater core on a Volvo V70 P2 (2001–2007) using my own method.
Before working under the dash, I disconnect the heater hoses in the engine bay and drain the heater core completely, so there’s no coolant mess inside the car. The heater core is located on the driver’s side under the dashboard.
To get enough space to remove the core, I disconnect the steering column joint. The heater core hard lines are sealed with O-rings and secured with locking pins, which must be removed carefully.
I also use PicMats inside the car just in case of leaks, making cleanup easy.
Time required:
About 1.5–2 hours if you know what you’re doing and don’t mind working in some awkward positions.
This method keeps the interior clean and makes the job much easier if you prepare properly.
tools needed torx screwdriver and flathead screwdriver....
