Football is one of the most popular sports in Africa, particularly in Nigeria, and has produced legends like Jay-Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, and more recently, African stars like Victor Osimhen, Asisat Oshoala, and Ademola Lookman, who have all shone on the international stage.
While millions of Nigerians tune in to watch top international football leagues like the English Premier League, La Liga in Spain, and Serie A in Italy, the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL, often receives little attention.
Nigerians spend large sums traveling to watch their favorite teams, such as Manchester United in London, but many aren’t willing to spend even N1000 to watch their local teams play right at home.
As a sports enthusiast and good citizen, I decided to attend my first Nigerian Premier football League match at Onikan Stadium, where Sporting Lagos
face Awka United.
