Just a day earlier, Trump warned Canada against pursuing economic agreements with China, threatening steep trade penalties if Ottawa moves forward. Referring to the Canadian PM as "Governor," Trump said U.S. would impose 100% tariff on Canadian goods if Ottawa deepens trade ties with Beijing. Earlier, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump chided Carney, saying, "Canada lives because of the U.S.…, They should be grateful". Within 48 hours, Prime Minister Carney delivered a fitting reply to President Trump over his 'grateful' remark.
