PS3 SUPER SLIM COMPLETE TEAR DOWN AND REASSEMBLY

This video disassembled the ps3 completely and then reassembled it. The PS3 has a PSU ( power supply unit) problem so that is the reason it has 2 cables running from the back .MY NEXT VIDEO WILL BE ABOUT HOW I FIXED IT.....

IMPORTANT INFO:

-- I USED A flat blade (minus shaped) SCREW DRIVER WITH A DENT IN THE MIDDLE I MADE WITH A CHISEL INSTEAD OF TORX SCREW DRIVER TO REMOVE SECURITY SCREWS


-- Use the help of the small arrows on the metal plates to know where to remove and put back the screws.

-- If you are opening the ps3 to clean then you do not need to remove the mother board.

-- Once you remove the mother board you have to replace the thermal paste .

-- Now suppose you had alredy replaced the thermal paste and while putting everything back lift the mother board off well you have to apply thermal paste agin.

-- Thermal paste has to be replaced every 6-10 years depending on the use.

-- Keep every thing organised so there won't be confusion while putting it back together.

-- While removing the long screws from under the ps3 remember that the front 2 legs don't have legs under.

-- Be careful not to bend the pins while removing and putting back the psu.

-- Be careful if the ports(hdmi,etc) while removing the mother board from the plastic housing and the metal heat sinks .

-- the mother board may be glued on to the heat sinks ,use a little force and slowly remove it.

STEPS:-( BRIEFLY MENTIONED because I alredy told in the vid)


If you keep the ps3 such a way that the front facing you( the side with powe button).

-- Remove the plastic pannel on the right by sliding back .Remove the 5 security screws(2near disc drive,3near hard drive) remove the blue screw and then lift and remove the hard drive.

-- Remove the back and front pannel as shown in the video.

-- Turn the ps3 upside down and remove the 3 legs and warrenty sticker and then remove the 4 long screws .

-- Now remove the 5 screws on the top and remove the housing

-- Disconnect the 2 ribbon cable of disc drive and lift and move it to the front.

-- Remove the 2 silver screws of PSU and disconnect the white connector and then remove the psu.

-- Disconnect the ribbon cable of disc drive and the white connector from the mother board.

-- Remover the 2 screws of the WLAN and bluetooth ANTINA and thn Disconnect the
Connector of WLAN and bluetooth.

-- Remove the fan connector ,the power button.

-- Remove the 5 black screws and then 2 silver GPU PRESSURE plate screws .then lift the whole assembly and off the housing.

-- remove the 2 black cpu PRESSURE PLATE SCREWS and then the 4 silver screws. Then lift off the metal plate.

-- remove the mother board and clean old thermal paste from both heat sinks and cpu amd GPU .then clean everything .

-- APPLY THERMAL new thermal paste and follow the steps back wards to reassemble.
