32 miles to the next DCFC. Francis Energy and NEVI helping close charging gaps in Northern Wisconsin

WisconsEV visit to the Francis Energy station at the AmericInn in Ladysmith.

This station is right off of hwy 27 just south of US-8 in the parking lot of a small hotel.

This is a new NEVI station from Francis Energy that opened on August 8, 2025. This stop has 2 machines - with 2 CCS cables each that can be used at the same time. It is one of 4 Francis Energy stations currently in the state of Wisconsin.

This is a solid stop that I rated 3-for-4, with a big miss for amenities...there's just nothing around except for the hotel. I recommend planning to stop to grab snacks or needed items and then going to charge. I pointed out that on Plugshare it was noted the hotel had no problem with you using the bathroom there, but I did not test this. There are also no garbage cans, nor squeegees.

This station is set up for 2 pull through charging stalls, but that may be affected by the hotel parking at times. One of the machines is just a pull in with 2 stalls

There is not much for charging infrastructure around this station for 30 miles or more, so if you want to charge around here this is the spot.
