In contrast to the Bavarian permanent rival BMW, who designed their first electric car as a small car with the i3, the Ingolstadt company is taking a different approach. Top-down is the Audi motto, i.e. the new technology is first presented in the upper class and the smaller variants follow. The start is therefore made by the Audi e-tron, a 4.90 m long SUV in the upper middle class, not entirely dissimilar to the SUV coupe Q8. The addition quattro reveals the Stromer as an all-wheel drive vehicle - one electric motor each on the front and rear axles ensure that the e-tron also puts the 300 kW (408 hp) onto the road without loss. A battery pack with a capacity of 95 kWh and a weight of around 700 kg is located in the floor of the vehicle. In the ADAC Ecotest, we determined a power consumption of 25.8 kWh/100 km including charging losses. This makes the e-tron anything but efficient. In addition, he only gets about 365 km far. All in all, no glorification for the long-awaited e-car from Audi. In this regard, the Ingolstadt-based company owes nothing about the “Vorsprung durch Technik” they claim for themselves. The e-tron, on the other hand, is convincing when it comes to driving comfort. Not only is the interior remarkably quiet - the acousticians have done a very good job here - the standard air suspension also keeps most road bumps away from the occupants. The Audi e-tron would be a first class touring vehicle if it weren't for the modest range. And it would be a much better electric car if it used energy more efficiently. However, with an unladen weight of 2.6 tons and the massive SUV body, this is not possible - the cat bites its own tail.
