Battlefield Hearts (1959) is an American war drama film directed by Byron Haskin.
Although sometimes mistakenly dated as 1958, it was actually released in 1961.
The story takes place during the final stages of World War II in France. A U.S. Army tank patrol is ordered to occupy and hold a small French town against German forces. As the soldiers brace for an enemy attack, personal conflicts, jealousy, and suspicion begin to threaten their unity—especially after a glamorous French woman becomes romantically involved with some of the men.
The film combines war action with melodrama, focusing less on large-scale battles and more on the inner struggles of soldiers under constant pressure.
