In this episode Delphine interviews Steve Gumaer, founder of Novi, a man who has dedicated his life’s work to helping children in war torn regions around the world. Novi’s work with children is currently focused on the 7.5 million children who are surviving the war in Ukraine and assessments are now being made to decide which of the ethnic States in Myanmar to engage next.
UPDATE: As this episode is being released NOVI’s Ukrainian partners sent an update from the recently liberated city of Kherson where there are 300,000 people, mostly women and children who don't have access to sustainable food, water, or power. Novi has helped to feed about 7,000 families so far. They are also providing blankets and warm clothing to combat the freezing weather. Join us to help these children by making your donation through their website link below. Anything you can give helps. Check out their website and social media pages to get even more information.

About Steve Gumaer
Steve founded Partners Relief & Development along with his wife Oddny in 1994. The organization began with the commitment to support one young girl whose village was attacked by the Myanmar Army. She was the only known survivor. Helping her led to a deeper engagement with families displaced by war in Myanmar. As a sustainable approach to aid was developed, the organization branched out to Bangladesh, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. The team of 65 full time staff reaches roughly a half a million refugees and displaced people each year with critically needed provisions.
In 2022, Steve resigned from his position as President after 28 years to start Novi, a new organization focusing on helping children traumatized by war. Novi’s mission is to strengthen children who survive war or are living through the violence of active conflict. By training community based, lay care givers to identify and work through childhood trauma, nutritional programs, and restoration of educational opportunities, Steve, and his new team seek to restore healthy conditions for children impacted by war to thrive and achieve their potential.Steve holds a masters degree in organizational leadership and currently serves as the CEO of Novi.
