Mary King's Close in Edinburgh was riddled with the black plague. Many deaths and anguish took place here and it was quarantined for many years to avoid the plague from spreading. During this time, a woman murdered her son-in-law and was hanged in Mary King's Close for her crimes. It is said that his ghost returns often to re-enact his killing.
