Walking through the countryside in rural Japan at sunset. Kameoka is a small town along the Oi River which flows through Arashiyama and Kyoto not far downriver. The area around the river is a mix of dry grassy marshland and farmland. We start on the riverside and cross the Hozu Kobashi Bridge, a narrow bridge barely wider than a car and without rails for greater flood resistance. Across the bridge we walk through grassy marshland, with nice bird, insect, frog, and water sounds. The path along the river goes under the train tracks by Torokko Kameoka Station, which we cross under before walking through a quiet suburban neighborhood and past JR Umahori Station.
