Tesla FSD v14.2 – First Real-World Drive (Chicago Suburbs)
This is my first full drive on Tesla FSD v14.2 in the Chicago suburbs — and the improvements are immediately noticeable.
The biggest update for me is the fix for the long-standing Speed Profile Bug that caused inconsistent max-speed behavior across Sloth, Chill, Standard, Hurry, and Mad Max.
Here is the new behavior in v14.2:
• Sloth: +0 mph
• Chill: +2 mph
• Standard: +5 mph
• Hurry: +10 mph
• Mad Max: pushes toward 85 mph (irrespective of posted limits)
This is the clearest and most consistent the profiles have ever behaved.
Lane selection, steering confidence, and general smoothness also show major improvements over v14.1.4.
More tests coming soon, including night drives and snow-series episodes this winter.
