Can I share quilt patterns with friends?

Can you share a quilt pattern with your friends? Does it matter if it was free or not? Is your opinion in line with the laws?
In this video we're going over the basics of the First Sale Doctrine and how it applies to sharing quilt patterns. Did you know that sharing a printed quilt pattern is different than sharing a digital quilt pattern? You can share a printed quilt pattern under the first sale doctrine, but not a digital quilt pattern.
