Apply For Awards, Scholarships and Grants Dear International Students

Hey guys!

Hope you are all doing well! Today's topic is one that I have been thinking about for the longest time and so I decided to share this topic with y'all. Here I talked about the importance of getting an award(s), of knowing your professors and being more active in your department. I realized that I spent most of my time as an international student worrying about doing well in my academics that I did not pay enough attention to applying for awards, scholarships or grants. Now that I have been reflecting about how important these things are, I have decided to share with you guys some of the lessons I have learned and what I hope to do moving forward.

Lessons Learned:
1. Get to know your professors or bosses beyond the work/formal environment
2. Don't be shy to put your name up for awards or to ask your professors/bosses to nominate you
3. Always keep an eye out for awards and grants
4. Don't be discouraged by the fact that most of these awards or grants are available to citizens. There are still a few out there that are open to non citizens.
5. Identify with a department and engage in more activities.
6. In today's society, being a well-rounded individual will take you places. So my darlings, please do not limit yourself.
