"...'Why do I keep running into this feeling of being powerless at times against my own impulses my own desires? Why don't I seem to be able to override them? What's wrong with me?' That's what we end up kind of thinking, and of course, the first answer to what's wrong with somebody who can't do that is nothing's wrong with you. Welcome to the human family. Everybody has those kinds of experiences with some regularity for the most part. I find the really important thing is to continually come back to not what I should be doing or shouldn't be doing but what do I really want to be doing...

What I have found is when we can finally remove or at least withhold a little bit from our conscious attention all the things we think we should be doing because that's usually the battle between these impulses, what we really need to do is get in touch with the most primary impulse we actually have..."
