G’day team!
In this video I’ll show you 3 quick and effective weathering techniques—plus a bonus tip at the end—to bring any scale model aircraft to life, no matter the scale.
If you’re painting a US Navy plane or Corsair with the classic Tri-Colour camouflage, check out my previous video (linked below) for a full paint-up guide before starting these steps.

Here’s what we cover:
Hairspray chipping: create natural paint wear on wing roots, ammo access panels, engine cowlings and propellers.
Sludge wash: give your model a subtle, service-worn look and highlight panel lines, rivets and bolts.
Panel line wash: add sharp detail to areas like bomb doors, landing gear bays and drop tanks where a sludge wash is tricky.
Bonus tip: burnt umber oil streaks for realistic engine oil leaks.
Finish with AMMO MIG Ultra-Matt Lucky Varnish to seal your work and knock back the shine.
These techniques work on any scale—from 1/72 to 1/32—whether you’re building a Corsair, Hellcat, or any WWII aircraft.
