How does mitsubishi outlander phev work? Let’s discuss all ways that you can charge your Outlander PHEV! There are 3 Levels, plus a bonus way to charge!

Charge times and way to charge - Mitsubishi calls them in Levels.

Level 1 (portable charger). It’s your standard 120 V Household Outlet. You can simply charge it at home with a regular household outlet. It takes approx. 16 hours from complete 0 to a full charge. Charger is included in the bag from the factory, located in the trunk area.

Level 2 (240 V Charging station). These are all stationery type chargers either installed at your home or found in public. If full power is available it takes 6.5 hours to a full charge.

Please note that both Level 1 and Level 2 charging times are contingent on full available output. Some public chargers are limited to the power that gets sent to the charger so it might take longer than estimated time.

Level 3 (DC Quick charging). Charges the battery up to 80% in about 38 minutes. Those are those big supercharge types. These are to be used once in a while as you might need it.

The 4th charging method is self charging. In about 90 minutes of idling you can charge it to 80%. This is great for situations when you use it as a power bank, so to speak, when camping or using it for something else and you need more battery life. You can also charge it up as you drive to use more EV range when needed. Say you’re on the Road Trip, driving a few hours on the Highway and you’ll be driving to the city afterwards. You can charge it while driving and then use EV range in the city to achieve maximum efficiency.
