Snow Camping in the Eastern Sierra Got Sketchy Fast

I took my Toyota Tacoma overland build up into the Eastern Sierra with my buddy Charly, aiming to reach Kavanaugh Ridge and camp at 10,000 feet. The plan was to push high into the mountains, but Mother Nature had other ideas.
As we climbed the trail, snow hid a thick layer of ice underneath, and the steepest section became impassable. Rather than force it, we turned around and dropped down to a lower elevation to find a safe place to camp.
We set up camp in the snow, cooked wagyu beef for dinner, and built a warm fire as snowfall came down around us — one of those nights that reminds you why you love winter camping.
In the morning, I made coffee from the warmth of my camper before Charly and I cooked up a full breakfast with eggs, sausage, and pancakes. With full bellies, we hit the trail again in search of some off-grid hot springs to round out the adventure.
This trip had it all — winter overlanding, snow-covered trails, good food, a warm fire, and chasing hot springs deep in the Eastern Sierra.
