http://www.timothyseaman.com/ On June 25, 2024 I made informal videos of the morning sun on the indescribably wondrous Salmon River next to our cabin in Lower Stanley, Idaho, near the glorious Sawtooth Mountains, and I got the idea to accompany the images with a medley I began to arrange 20 years ago after visiting Grand Teton National Park nearby, but I've hardly played it since. Here it is in an informal form!
In the medley I essentially experiment with solo hammered dulcimer ideas built from three similar sweet melodies: first, Antonin Dvorak's folk tune for his orchestral tone poem 'In Nature's Realm'; second, Ludwig van Beethoven's folk tune for the finale of his 6th Symphony 'Pastoral', the 'Shepherds' Hymn of Thanks after the Storm'; and third, a traditional cowboy song from the region called 'Git Along, Little Dogies'.
Links to original versions of the three tunes:
'In Nature's Realm' by Theodor Kuchar: • In Nature's Realm, Op. 91
'Shepherds' Hymn of Thanks' by George Szell: • Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 "Pastora...
'Git Along, Little Dogies' by Roy Rogers: • Roy Rogers : Git Along Little Dogies ( 1940 )
