As you may have guessed, most brand reps are not scouring Instagram, YouTube and other social platforms seeking out micro influencers to partner with. I have established 3 steps to landing four figure brand deals that can often extend into long term relationships between influencers and companies. A day in the life of a micro influencer should involve researching possible partnerships by researching brands that you have shared goals or audiences with. Landing a brand deal with a company that has little to do with your goals as an influencer will likely come off as purely profit driven, which will instantly call your authenticity into question with your established audience. Rather than sacrificing your audience engagement for a quick paycheck, focus your daily routine on finding brands that make sense to partner with.
Because many brands are not contacting micro influencers at random, more often than not your first interactions with a brand will be via an email that you send to them. Rather than coming on strong and pitching a paid partnership at first contact, I recommend sending an email that details your appreciation and love for the brand, while subtlety sharing your social information that the brand can review if they're interested in learning more. Many micro influencers on Instagram follow this exact formula when pitching brands about possible partnerships, as first showing appreciation will show the company you're not just fishing for a payday.
Influencer marketing remains a very self driven industry where how much micro influencers make often revolves around the amount of time, effort and creativity they're putting into their account. Many people just starting out in this space are often perplexed when trying to find out how to get brand deals on Instagram with a small account, but they're forgetting that every account on Instagram was a small account at one point.
The more you carve out your own goals and identity as an influencer, the easier it will become to find brands to partner with who share the same values as you and your audience.
