Experience one of the Isle of Wight’s most iconic landmarks from the comfort of your screen! This webcam overlooks The Needles at Alum Bay, famous worldwide for its chairlift, coloured sand, and dramatic chalk stacks rising 30m from the Solent.

The Needles takes its name from a now-vanished fourth needle-shaped rock, Lot’s Wife, which collapsed in 1764. The area is famous for storms, often recording the highest wind speeds in the region. The Needles Lighthouse, built in 1859, was manned until its automation in 1994. Nearby, both the old and new Needles Battery are set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), managed by the National Trust. The National Coastwatch Institution’s Needles Station also stands high above the cliffs.
