Grammy Award winning songwriter Liz Rose shares insights into how to tell true stories for stronger, more impactful songs.
Liz has penned songs for artists including Taylor Swift, Colbie Callait, Alison Krauss, Blake Shelton, LeeAnn Womack, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Bonnie Raitt, Carrie Underwood, Chris Young, Gary Allan and so many others.
In this interview, we talk about writing to a cadence (feeling the rhythm of each line and the placement of rhyme), and finding a direction for second verses and bridges. For songwriters living outside major music cities and without clear access to great collaborators, Liz notes how simply finding good listeners can help us refine our artistry.
