American Bonsai Association Sacramento presents another episode in the continuing Seasonal Bonsai Series. Early summer is a good time to evaluate your deciduous trees and make decisions regarding styling and growth. After defoliation and pruning, many trees produce vigorous growth that needs management and care. From very young trees through more advanced and refined trees, every bonsai tree can be improved by proper care. This video series demonstrates starter trees, intermediate trees and refined trees and gives proper steps for each. Deciduous trees grow rapidly in our warm climate and care must be taken to manage this vigor. Summer is the best time to create pads on junipers to get a classic bonsai appearance.
