Buford Mall in Buford, Georgia, opened in 1972 as a small hallway type mall, with larger stores next to the hallway located outside. Essentially, this mall was a strip mall that had a hallway for enclosed retail, and that's how it remains today. In 1999, the Mall of Georgia, a massive super regional mall opened in Buford, which spurred economic and suburban style growth. Thus, I feel like to most, the old Buford Mall was forgotten as time went on. In 2018, Harbor Freight came in to de-mall half of the enclosed mall hallway, and today the only tenant inside is Lee's Golden Buddha Chinese restaurant in the half still standing.
