Burner Fire Control 60 Gallon Compressed Air Foam Training at LSU FETI in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hazard: Auto Fire. Extinguishing Time: 31.26 seconds
CAFS use in first-line emergency response is being adopted by organizations globally and Burner has developed an assembled the most extensive line of systems over any other manufacturer. The effectiveness of Burner CAFS is proven by our growing customer base spanning North America, Canada, South America, EMEA, and APAC. Our hand-truck, cart and skid mounted hose reel foam systems are self contained and stored energy, eliminating the need for an outside agent or propulsion source. Units are designed and completed to the same standards as our full line dry chemical, powder, and AFFF foam equipment to make them withstand the harshest environmental conditions.
CAFS attacks all sides of the fire tetrahedron by smothering the fire with a “foam blanket”, preventing oxygen from combining with fuel. It diminishes the heat by insulating (using the trapped air within the bubble structure) and the bubbles reflect radiant heat, preventing excess heat from adding to the fire. This prevents additional fuel from reacting with the fire by providing a barrier. CAFS has been shown to disrupt the chemical reaction required for fire to continue and proven to be 15 to 30 times more effective than water alone.
Stored Energy CAFS refers to the method used to dispense the compressed air foam. Burner systems utilize compressed air or nitrogen rather than pressurized air generated by an air compressor or outside power source, making these systems “self contained” (no external resources are required to actuate the system). The units can be quickly recharged to respond to additional hazards.
Burner designs and manufactures our full line of Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) in-house for over 30 years. This allows us to offer a level of customization that is unmatched in the industry. There are several standard models and configurations available. Each system can be modified to meet customer specifications. We also have the capability to design and build completely customized systems.
The US Army, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, and the US State Department has chosen our systems to protect many of their Forward Operating Bases in Iraq, Afghanistan, North Africa, Europe, Asia, and elsewhere. We are currently working with both military and civilian contractors to design and equip special purpose vehicles with crucial life saving fire suppression systems.
Compressed Air Foam are globally used and have been commission for the following applications:
1st Response Rescue Operations
Airports and Aircraft Hangars
Public Buildings
Heliport and Helideck Fire Protection - CAP 437
Fuel Transport Locations
Refinery and Petrochemical Sites
Coal Mines on Special Response Vehicles
Frack Tank Fire Protection
All Compressed Air Foam Fire Fighting Units are designed and manufactured by Burner Fire Control in their ASME Code Facilities in Lafayette, Louisiana. For more information on CAFS, please visit www.burnerfire.com or call us at 1-800-864-4073.
