The 'Biskuttini tal-Lewż', also know as 'Almond Macaroons', 'Almond Biscuits' or 'Almond Cookies', are a traditional Maltese dessert which are very popular in special occasions all over the island. Almond Macaroons Recipe (Yields 16 to 18 Macaroons):
7 oz (200 g) Ground Almonds
7 oz (200 g) Caster Sugar
2 Egg whites (2 1/3 oz [or] 70 g)
Lemon Zest
1 tsp. Vanilla essence
1/2 tsp. Almond essence
