The book Monstress has been one of my favorite books for a long time now. It has been on my mind because the most recent issue, #30 came out a little while ago, and after a little break, Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda are about to start a new ark with the book next month.
Since this brought Monstress to mind again, I wanted to take a minute to look at the book and talk about what I think makes the book so very good. If you just look at one or two of the covers for Monstress alone, you can tell that Sana Takeda’s art is intricate and beautiful. And when you start to read the book you will quickly find that the story that Marjorie Liu has woven for this book is a perfect match for the art that depicts it.
If you have not heard of this book, or if you have, but you just have not picked it up yet, I hope that I might be able to inspire you to head down to your local comic book shop to pick this up.
