The Australian mezzo-soprano, Liane Keegan, received scholarships from the Opera Foundation Australia, Shell Royal Covent Garden Scholarship and a Bayreuth Bursary from the Wagner Society of Great Britain. Her career, so far, has comprised leading roles in Australia as well as in Europe in roles including Mary (The Flying Dutchman), Erda, First Norn, Siegrune, Waltraute, Azucena, Ulrica, Azucena, Klytämnestra (Elektra), Mistress Quickly, Anna (Les Troyens), Emilia (Otello), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro), Herodius (Salome), The Old Lady/Dutchess (Sleeping Beauty) and Leocadia Begbick (The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny). More recently Liane launched her one woman show “Judy Australia 1964” based on Judy Garland. She is heard here in Kurt Weill's AUFSTIEG UND FALL DER STADT MAHAGONNY as Witwe Leokadja Begbick from a performance at Theater Hagen on January 13th 2007. Fatty and Dreieinigkeitsmoses are performed by Richard van Gemert and Frank Dolphin Wong. The conductor is Steffen Müller-Gabriel.
