Ferrata al Sentiero dei Fiori “completo”, dal Passo del Castellaccio al Passo di Pisgana. Tonale

Percorso: partenza dal Passo del Tonale con funivia fino al Passo Paradiso (2.585 m). Sentiero 44 al Passo del Castellaccio (2.962 m), con numerosi resti bellici, in cui ci imbraghiamo per iniziare la Ferrata al Sentiero dei Fiori. Breve deviazione per il Nido d’Aquila. Si giunge facilmente al Gendarme di Casamadre, con i due famosi ponti sospesi. Prima di percorrere i ponti è possibile visitare la galleria. Proseguiamo al Bivacco Amici della Montagna e al Corno di Lago Scuro (3.164 m). Discesa al Passo di Lago Scuro (2.969 m) e risalita a Cima Payer (3.054 m). Proseguendo verso Passo Payer (2.978 m) la ferrata aumenta di difficoltà. Inoltre, dal passo a Punta Pisgana (3.107 m) la via è molto esposta, con tratti su cresta aerea. Infine, discesa al Passo del Lago di Pisgana (2.933 m) e al Rifugio Mandrone (2.442 m) per il pernotto
Distanza: 9.2 km. Dislivello: superiore ai 1.000 m, da 2.585 m a 3.164 m
Livello: sentiero EEA, facile fino a Cima Payer, alpinistico (facile) il resto. Valutare bene l’impegno fisico e la durata del percorso, soprattutto se si vuole rientrare in giornata (sconsigliato)
Equipaggiamento: casco, guanti, scarponi con climbing zone, kit ferrata. Non usati i ramponi, ma dipende dal periodo

Le valutazioni/considerazioni sul sentiero indicato, sia nel video che nelle descrizioni, sono soggettive, e non devono essere prese a riferimento.

Suggerimenti per pianificare questa escursione:
• Il percorso completo, fino al Passo Pisgana, è molto più impegnativo sia tecnicamente che fisicamente rispetto alla via turistica dal Passo del Castellaccio al Corno di Lago Scuro: difficile ferrata in discesa (con catena), cresta aerea, sentieri alpinistici (facili ma molto esposti e non assicurati)
• La parte più interessante, sia per la varietà dei tratti che per i panorami, inizia dopo cima Payer
• Ad Agosto non abbiamo incontrato neve/ghiaccio lungo il percorso, ma da verificare
• Considerando il dislivello, l’impegno e la lunghezza della escursione, consigliamo di spezzare il giro in due giorni, pernottando in quota
• I dintorni del rifugio "Città di Trento" al Mandrone, dove abbiamo pernottato, meritano una visita: vista spettacolare sui ghiacciai, cascate di acqua di fusione, laghetti
• Il ritorno dal rifugio Mandrone a Capanna Presena, da cui si prende la funivia per la discesa, è noioso. Spezzatelo con una sosta al Lago Scuro

Itinerary: departure from Passo del Tonale with cable car up to Passo Paradiso (2,585 m). Continuing towards Passo Payer (2,978 m) the via ferrata increases in difficulty. Furthermore, from the pass to Punta Pisgana (3,107m) the route is very exposed, with sections on an aerial ridge. Finally, descent to Passo del Lago di Pisgana (2,933 m) and to Rifugio Mandrone (2,442 m) for an overnight stay

The evaluations/considerations on the path indicated, both in the video and in the descriptions, are subjective, and must not be taken as a reference.
Tips for planning this excursion:
• The complete route, up to Passo Pisgana, is much more demanding both technically and physically than the tourist route from Passo del Castellaccio to Corno di Lago Scuro: difficult downhill via ferrata (with chain), aerial ridge, alpine paths (easy but very exposed and uninsured)
• The most interesting part, both for the variety of stretches and for the panoramas, begins after Cima Payer
• In August we didn't encounter snow/ice along the way, but to be checked
• Considering the height difference, the effort and the length of the excursion, we recommend splitting the tour into two days, staying overnight at high altitude
• The surroundings of the "Città di Trento" refuge at Mandrone, where we stayed overnight, are worth a visit: spectacular view of the glaciers, meltwater waterfalls, lakes
• The return from the Mandrone refuge to Capanna Presena, from which you take the cable car for the descent, is boring. Break it up with a stop at Lago Scuro
