Welcome back to the channel! This is Day 2 of my Truman Lake crappie fishing and camping trip, and the bite just keeps getting better. Early October, a light breeze, and the crappie are stacked shallow over brush piles — not out deep like most people think!
I’m fishing 8–22 feet of water using a 1/16 oz hair jig tipped with a minnow, and these slabs just can’t resist it. The water temps are holding around 72–74°F, and I’m catching consistent 10–12 inch crappie all morning.
Stick around for some solid tips on locating brush piles, reading your graph, and managing your bait to trigger more bites. It’s proof that sometimes, the best fishing days happen when you just stay patient and work your spot.
If you enjoy crappie fishing, brush pile tactics, or just being out on Truman Lake, I’d love to have you subscribe. More fall fishing adventures coming soon — including camping, gear tips, and plenty more slab action.
