Winter's End: Melodies of Love (World Premiere)

This new work, proudly supported by PPL, is a product of SAA-uk's Talent NxGen project, which aims to nurture and highlight the next generation of extraordinary South Asian composers, arrangers, and performers.

As part of the Leeds International Concert Season, South Asian Arts-uk invites you to immerse yourself in a world where the strings weave tales of love, heritage, and renewal. Join us as the renowned multi-instrumentalist Kirpal Singh Panesar takes the stage to present his latest creation.

Through a mesmerising interplay of classical rhythms and soul-stirring melodies, Panesar transports listeners to a place where music transcends time, weaving together the emotions of the past with the hopes of the present.

As winter fades and the soft breeze of spring carries whispers of new beginnings, Panesar's performance captures the essence of transformation, renewal & the enduring power of love.
Each note unfolds like a petal, immersing the audience in a musical journey that resonates deeply with the heart and soul.

Programme:
Whispers of the Heart - The first piece is a classical rendition of Raag Madhuvanti which is a raag associated with the sweetness of honey, playfulness, romance and loving sentiments. Performed on the Esraj by Shri Kirpal Singh Panesar , accompanied on tabla (Harnam Singh) and on swaramandal (Ravneet Kaur).

Divine Love - The second is a composition in Raag Mishra Kafi based on the writings of Bhai Gurdass Ji in which he has compared the 5 famous love stories of Punjab to that of devotional love of a devotee to his Guru.

Heer - Raag Bhairavi 'Queen of ragas' - a traditional and poignant folk song of Punjab originally based on the separation felt by Ranjha of his darling Heer. Kirpal’s Esraj will be bringing to life the pure love, devotion and introspection.
