As recommended in 'Doctor Who Magazine' issue 512 (June 2017) and promoted by BBC America as "exceptional" - this is a glimpse of how Doctor Who may have looked in an alternative 1970s if casting decisions had been accepted.
Back in the '70s the title role was originally offered to a number of other actors before either Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker were cast in the part. For various reasons these offers never materialised into contracts to play the Doctor. This video is a window to an alternative reality where these initial choices took the job and starred in the series.
The video thumbnail is based on a design concept by Daniel Berrecloth. The concept of the video was suggested to me by Mark Gatiss.
If this video does well I shall invest the time and effort into making ‘The Almost Doctors Part 1 – The 1960s’.
This edition stars Ron Moody, Richard Hearne, Jim Dale, Bernard Cribbins, Graham Crowden, Fulton Mackay and Michael Bentine in the eponymous role. They are transplanted in episodes from 'The Time Warrior', 'Robot', 'Terror of the Zygons', 'Pyramids of Mars', 'The Android Invasion', 'The Talons of Weng-Chiang' and 'The Stones of Blood'
Enjoy.

Special thanks go to Jonathon Carley for his ever-splendid voice-over work as David Tennant and the voice of K9, and also to Mert Karaca for helping locate good quality source material for 'The Railway Children' and 'Raffles'.
