The Indra, a bolt-action Caliburn

Captain Slug's latest blaster is the Indra, a bolt-action, mag-fed springer. I've seen quite a few different requests for this design. It's been highly anticipated. Of course, I gave Slug money and started printing. Got curious about the name, Indra. Googled it. Apparently, Indra is some kind of major Hindu deity, like Odin or Zeus. I based this build's color scheme off of a Wikipedia pic I found.

All parts were printed on my Prusa Mini at 0.2mm layer height. I used 30% infill and 5 walls for most of the parts. A few of the internal ones were higher. I used Atomic Filaments Golden Blood Diamond PLA, Hatchbox Silk Brown PLA and True Red PLA, with Paramount 3D Hannibal Red PETG for the internal moving parts.

I added on a KuryKafe 13mm ID barrel and a Pro26 spring. Captain Slug had benchmarked the Indra at 195 FPS with a K26 spring. I figured that with the right tuning, I could break 200 with relative ease. Getting the blaster to catch was a real hurdle. Getting the air seal just right was another. Took a bit of work, but the results were worth it. My testing saw that it was hitting a 222 FPS average with a high of 228 using AF Pro half-length darts.

When I watched Boomstick Mods' Indra review, he mentioned that there was a bit of barrel wobble. I was able to avoid that by replacing the front 2 takedown pins with 2 1-1/4" 8-32 nuts and bolts. There was also several issues with the plunger tube slipping away from the bolt. I was able to avoid that with a bit of epoxy, which also helped improve the air seal. I wasn't able to resolve the catching issue until I printed Slug's updated stem and plunger head parts. Even then, it took a fair bit of tinkering to get it where I wanted. Was going so hard at it, I got a blister from my screwdriver.

In the end, I found that the Indra is a fine blaster with some real fun operation. More than enough to keep this tinkerer occupied for a weekend.
