The mission of the CSULB Sustainable Transportation Program is to decrease the number of drive-alone commutes in order to reduce our carbon footprint, meet our air quality mandate, and accommodate increasing demand for parking as our campus community grows. Commutes to campus by students and employees make up an overwhelming 52% of greenhouse gas emissions at CSULB, and increasing participation in sustainable transportation programs is critical to meeting our Climate Action Plan goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030. CSULB strives to support diverse transportation options – including walking, bicycling, public transportation, carpooling, vanpooling, and the use of electric vehicle charging stations – to meet the needs of our diverse population and to help our campus community take advantage of financial savings, time savings, and health benefits. Using sustainable transportation supports individual health, saves money, and helps the environment.
