"I WASN'T EVEN DRIVING"

On June 16, 2023, at around 6:00 p.m., Deputy Robert Bosnyak initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling in the 10000 block of S Highway 41, in Dunnellon. The driver, Christopher North (W/M, DOB: 11/09/1988) initially slowed down and pulled to the shoulder of the roadway. Once Deputy Bosnyak came to a stop in his patrol vehicle, North fled at a high rate of speed. Deputy Bosnyak initiated a vehicle pursuit.

North fled for a short distance before coming to a final stop in the 11000 block of N Williams Street. Deputy Bosnyak conducted a felony traffic stop and maintained control of the situation while additional deputies responded to assist. When they arrived, North was instructed to get out of the vehicle and was taken into custody. During a search, deputies discovered that North was in possession of approximately 85 grams of a green, leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.

When North was questioned, he initially stated he was not driving. However, he ultimately claimed he was looking for a safe place to stop the vehicle. North also admitted that he does not have a valid driver’s license.

North was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
