Here is a quick video clip of resetting my Briggs & Stratton Generator which failed to start from its weekly exercise. We are in the dead winter of February. Temps have recently creeped below zero some days. This generator has been exercising itself automatically on sundays for 20 minutes. It has never failed in over 2 years since I rebuilt it. 2 weeks ago it tried to automatically start and it just crapped out. It’s been 2 weeks since. Today the temps were near 40 degrees and I was able to get to the machine, pulled the top and front panels off. The display showed 48 hours and a FC-6 error.
FC-6 dictates engine over speed. This can mean low propane pressure. I flipped the automatic switch to the “OFF” position. Waited 5 seconds and turned it back to the “AUTO” position.
Then I pressed the manual override button to turn on the generator to let it warm up. It kicked right over. I let the machine run for 30 minutes. I then pressed the manual override button to shut it down. The error code was no longer seen on the display. I reinstalled the top and front panels and all should be good again.
