ZEENAT BAKSH JUMA MASJID | Where History Meets IMAAN

Zeenath Baksh Masjid, also known as Beliye Palli or Juma Masjid, is a historic mosque situated in the Bunder area of Mangalore, Karnataka. Constructed in 644 AD by Arab Muslim traders, it is considered the third oldest mosque in India and the oldest in Karnataka . The mosque is renowned for its unique Indian architectural style, featuring intricate wooden carvings made from teak and rosewood. Notably, it is the only mosque in Karnataka built entirely of wood . The inner sanctum houses 16 teak pillars adorned with artistic symbols, flowers, and bells . In the 18th century, Tipu Sultan renovated the mosque and named it Zeenath Baksh after his daughter
