PRETEND: We pretended to be in a 1950’s cooking TV show and made homemade ice cream!
Recipe for Ice Cream:
Materials:
• 1-quart zip-close bag
• 1-gallon zip-close bag
• Duct tape
Gloves or hot pads for shaking bag Ingredients
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 cup milk
• 1 cup whipping cream
• Ice
• 3/4 cup water
• 3/4 cup rock salt (kosher or even table salt will work)
Instructions:
Measure the milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla extract into the quart-size bag.
Zip it up tightly.
Fill the gallon-size bag with ice and water.
Add the salt.
Put the sealed smaller bag inside.
Now zip up the larger bag.
Shake and shake the bags to make ice cream!
It will take about 5 minutes until the cream hardens.
Keep checking on the ice cream to make sure it doesn't over churn.
Take the smaller bag out of the larger one.
Eat the ice cream right out of the bag.
