I had NO idea blue whales were passing Cape Naturaliste… until a friend told me the day before. 😂
So on Sunday I packed up the van, made a smoothie in Dunsborough, and drove out to see if I could capture one with my drone.
I hiked out to the whale-watching platform and WOW — what a day. I filmed some absolutely stunning blue whale footage (the drone couldn’t even fit this giant into the frame from 90 metres up!). Ended up making two new friends who were also checking out the whales — apparently drones are a great conversation starter… or chick magnet? 🤣
We all went for a swim at Meelup Beach before I made lunch from yesterday’s leftover potatoes near the beach, hoping they wouldn’t give me the sh*ts. The perfect vanlife culinary experience.
Then I drove home, got a speeding ticket (worth it), had a shower, watched Stranger Things, and wrapped up one of the best Sundays ever.
