When Nat Herreshoff built the first H12 in 1914 it was nicknamed the Buzzards Bay Boy's Boat. Today, the H12 has been faithfully recreated in fiberglass by two builders on Buzzards Bay. For the last 111 years active H12 fleets have graced Buzzards Bay and other ports around New England.
The H12 fleet at Beverly Yacht Club includes both wood and fiberglass versions racing together as a one design class. The BYC fleet is very active with practice races on Tuesday Evening, ladies races on Thursday afternoon, series races on Sunday, the Moonlight regatta, the Singlehanded Challenge, and the Van Rensselaer regatta.
