The troubleshooting methods in this video can be used to diagnose MOST older style ignitions.
In this video we are working on a 2002 Volkswagen Passat, the veh was towed in and had no power (I was told it was a security issue). As I went to connect a jump box I found the positive terminal was not connected to the battery. I connected the terminal and found all the dash lights lit up as if the key was on. the only problem was both keys were in my hand. I hope you guys enjoy this video and thanks for watching.
